    2nd August

Matt had some slightly better news for us today (we'll ignore the coming weather for Tuesday for now). Matt was also optimistic that a will feel a bit warmer once you're in the sunshine. Jon repeated that : 'once you're in the sunshine.....yeah....that's good....optimism is good' . Lmao, I have to say he didn't exactly sound convinced!!

At 7.15 Matt got Northern Island confused with the Channel Islands.....now I wonder if perhaps he'd tried a glass of that Chateau Tooting He did apologise of course.

We have a 'dartboard' low pressure out to the north west that's going to bring more rain on Tuesday.

And there we are playing piggy in the middle between two weather systems! Lovely!! As long as that rain stays away til well into Monday night, that'll be something...I'm out Monday evening!

    1st August

After a couple of days off Matt was back today, and the weather hasn't improved any so its still a topic of conversation while a lot of people head of on their hols and if they have any sense and a little cash they'll be getting the hell outta here! Today was AWFUL!

Whilst I was locked away in an office on Friday (very cold I might add), my parents were enjoying a short break from the dodgy weather and both said it felt very much more like autumn than summer, and that was still July! Personally I have never considered August to be summer even though the holidays are centered around it. Its the eight month of the year.....how is that summer?? Sorry no. June is the height of summer, therefore in my head, summer is May, June, July. By August the nights are noticable drawing in and it gets colder earlier in the evenings even when it is decent....if it ever is. To me...August is neither here nor there, but wherever it is..it isnt summer...to me!

Bright side? It's going to be lovely and bright at the crack of dawn tomorrow!!! But set your alarm or you'll miss it!! That cloud is heading in fast.

For the 8.15 forecast Jon:'We've been talking about the weather all morning...everyone has been talking about the weather this summer....poor Matt. Do the damage Matt'. Matt: 'Im the one that has to bring the bad news every... single.... time, sorry about that.' Awww bless. My question is..did Carol got this much stick on Breakfast on Thursday and Friday? I don't know because I didn't watch. I'm glad I'm not a weather'man' right now, that's for sure.

Here's Matt putting a brave face on it! Trying to be optimistic about tomorrows weather.

Now Vernon is still on hols and Fearne Cotton was covering for him today. Where did that Greg James get to, galavanting off around the country???

    29th July

Well, today was the day when the 'great british summer' was in the news! At 6am Kate was asking Matt to explain himself! Yep, it started straight away! And Matt warned off more heavy rain on the way today.
For the first forecast this morning Charlie asked what has happened with this summer. Matt explained that its all to do with the jet stream being too far south.
Second forecast Matt had to exlpain himself again! Kate was saying: 'Despite the predictions of course that we were going to have this long hot summer Matt and it just hasn't materialised.' Matt: 'ahh, there was never a forecast of a long hot summer, there was a forecast of some warmer spells within this summer and certainly an improvement to what we've seen over the past few days and don't forget its only 3 weeks since we were in heatwave conditions, but I will hold my hands up and yes the past few weeks have been very disappointing and it looks like things may stay unsettled for the next few weeks as well. So, yes, not great and not great this morning either with the fact we've got Met Office severe weather warnings out.'

And at the end of that forecast poor Matt got questioned again by Kate saying: 'Now Matt before you go.....we don't want you to be the whipping boy here obviously...however seeings how we've got you here....you know we looked at these figures and the Met Office was saying, you know, 65% odds on for this BBQ summer (actually 65% is not all that really is it!!!!)  we were all told how to deal with the heatwave, paint our houses white and whatnot, you know, you can forgive us for being slightly disappointed....it revised its forecast now hasn't it?' Matt: 'Yes, its fairly understandable, yes, the past few weeks have been very disappointing, typical british summer like weather in fact. But if you cast your mind back to the start it was for the it would be an improvement on the previous years, still average sort of conditions but with those hotter spells. The hotter spells have sort of missed us, off in the near continent at the moment accept that one at the end of June/beginning of July and yes it is that little bit disappointing. I will hold my hands up and say that but the forecast is not completely wrong and still with seasonal forecasts at the moment it sort of an experimental forecast, its one will still trying to fine tune and will continue to do so.' Kate (laughs): ' Very diplomatic'. Charlie: 'We're not blaming you'. Kate:'No, he says as all these little raindrops come falling down. Never mind. Matt, thank you very much, thank you.'

At 7.15 Matt had the brolley out again. He got off lightly this forecast after that long explaination earlier. However directly after the forecast one of the Breakfast was dressed in wet weather gear on a rather blustery South Wales caravan park. And after that they were promising another chat with Matt to give the Met Office their right of reply. They also kept coming out with the same old 'there's no such thing as bad weather, just the wrong clothing'!!!! NOOOOO, its bad weather!!!! I'm sorry, it is. You can't get a tan in the rain!! Wind burn perhaps, if its windy, but every other day of rain is extremely tiresome. I know the weathermen aren't to blame for the state of the weather but its still rubbish...end off

Matt had some more explaining to do at 7.45, he certainly earned his dollars today! Bless. Bet he was glad when that shift was over!! Tomorrow should be an improvement at least. And at 8.15 Matt had to explain AGAIN!!! I'd be here till Christmas I was to transcribe it all and I really need some sleep tonight!

And guess what...Matt had to explain one last time at 8.55! He had put the umbrella away for that forecast however.

Wow! A mammoth day for Matt today.

Now after all that today...will Matt be back for more tomorrow??? I'm not sure I would!!

    28th July

Matt didn't need his umbrella today!! Shocking! I have to say the weather seems to be a very popular topic of conversation just lately and not for any good reasons!!

Today they were talking about the fact that Wookey Hole in somerset are recruiting a witch!! So as Kate was introducing the weather she said :'Right, lets find out how the weather's looking, whether you're living in a cave, trying to go off camping or just heading out for the day' . Matt: 'I think a cave would be an attractive option to be honest Kate with the weather I've got in store for yu for the next 36 hours'.

Dry day in the south here but not exactly what one might call bright! Just in case you were wondering....its only 149 sleeps til Christmas!!! Feels like it too!
