    29th/30th July

I've been out this evening so I will be playing blog catch up tomorrow evening! I don't think there was any ice lolly's on the nightshift though!
I was lucky I had a good Wednesday, no rain for me! Very warm, very nice. Glorious Goodwood was....umm looking glorious???
Is that another new shades of blue tie??

And now for something completely different! Matt has obviously been working in an advisory capacity here to Tim Westwood. Listen carefully at the end of the clip in the out-takes, click here

Matt was on afternoon shift today, with an ice lolly!!! Apparently the air-con had broken down and it was as hot in the studio as outside.

    Matt and the ice lolly

My boss bought us all magnum's on Friday afternoon! Yum!! and here it is live:

    Need I say more really!!

    27th July

Hey, blue shirt today, very nice, liking that, a lot. It matches the sky! I don't think weather forecasting will have been too strenuous today!! Some weather to watch out west but for now, sunny, sunny, sunny for most of us, and hot, hot, hot!    Good day to get the washing out apparently! good thing, really because that's exactly what I did!
And Matt reckons it might be a good day for the beach. Just don't forget the parasol!!! That sun is too hot even for me to sit in! I'm not complaining there btw!!! Not at all!! Shade is fine. I don't care how hot it gets, its always better than cold as far as I'm concerned. I'd rather melt than freeze to death. If you want to cool down fast....go in the sea!! That's a superfast cool down!! Alternatively, have a cold shower! Or get a plant sprayer and spray yourself!!   See, lots of highly practtical ways to keep cool!!!
Who on earth are these Sunday presenters?? Really?? Who are they?? Why are they there?? Sunday is always my lie-in day so I record rather than watch the show and thank God!!! I can just fast forward to where Matts on and don't have to sit through the rest!!
Some might have some rumbles of thunder apparently in the midlands. Not me  So, incoming heavy showers Monday Tuesday but for now, it's all good! And Matt'll keep an eye on those weather warnings for you.

    2008-07-28 1

I think we need a record of those lovely (in my opinion!!!) temperatures!! not to mention the lovely weatherman, that goes without saying!

    26th July

Yay!! Matt was back on Breakfast again today!! As he hadn't been around all week I thought I'd best set the dvd, and taaadaaa, there he was! and mentioning the Southampton Rose Bowl reaching 23 degrees on the first forecast!

Lincolnshire got the hottest temperature of the year so far at 29 degrees!! Several degrees down on that round here but still not bad. And a good looking weekend Matt tells us! Yay! about time too!

Now you may remember not so long ago, Chris Hollins was blaming Matt for the bad weather, well today, it seemed to me that was almost a complaint about how hot it was last night and not being able to sleep!!! But warm and muggy for the next few nights says Matt.
Very much a beach weekend, I bet they'll be packed! Don't forget the suntan cream Matt says. I think someone needs to develop a gadget for getting suntan cream on ones back!!! I've yet to find a way to do that! My back is still a little bit sore from Thursday! But not too bad.

At the start of the 9.17 forecast Matt says: 'I know heat isn't everybodies bag, but it does look like its going to be another warm one'. So true!! I know more than one person I have 'friendly' disagreements with about 'good' weather!!  Matt: 'who needs to go to the meditteranean when you've got weather like this in the UK. A very warm weekend and despite a few showers, as I said Chris and Louise, its going to stay mostly dry. Enjoy the sunshine this weekend then.'

    22nd/23rd July

Matt was back on overnight shift, and I've been a really bad 'bad weather' blogger! Once the sun is out.....no blogging! And here's the excuse, wait for it, it's good! I take the laptop outside and I can hardly see the screen of course, and I can't hear what Matts saying cos the fountains in the pond are making too much noise!! Good eh!! ohh and I've been a bit tired too. So anyway, onwards and upwards. This week really has seen the start of summer! Finally! Matt had some very good looking temperatures on his map and I really liked the Europe map with all that orange on it!! Yay!

    2008-07-26 1

Matt was very adventurous with his forecast tonight, he went right up to Saturday!! Atlantic pressure chart and everything! The 11.30 forecast was after a discussion from the papers about  the passport office workers going on strike and Matt said: 'You might not want to grab a passport and head overseas because the summer warmth continues to build across the UK over the next few days'. Too true! Expensive Euro's, crazy paranoid airports, who needs it! We can stay here and get watched on CCTV every second, get caught speeding on camera, and use expensive pounds instead!! Yay!! And even get arrested for doing just about anything!!!! (Whatever you do, don't take pictures!!!! Highly illegal these days I hear!!!! Even though it's not against the law!!!! yet!) Lmao, anyway, thats all a little 'off topic' I guess!! Perhaps I should start a rant blog!
Matt: 'At last summer has arrived on our doorstep'. Hehe, after the 12.30 forecast Matt did that vanish trick again! Always funny. Now you see him.....now you don't!

On my local forecast on Breakfast this morning (Wednesday) Matt said I could leave my jacket at home! So I did!! I was a bit distraught at having to go to work at all on such a promising day!

I was watching the weather very very closely this week to choose the best day to have a last minute day off to go to the beach. I chose wisely (in more ways than one!), took Thursday and went down to sunny Bournemouth. Fantastic. Fish and chips, Mr Whippy...what more could you ask for?!! oh and a dip in the sea!! That was chilly, very chilly, but ok once I got used to it.

    21st July

Matt was on afternoon shift today, which I missed of course, being at WORK, on the first day of summer!! Not that summer really kicked in til about 2pm, nevertheless I was extremely distraught at not being able to be out in it. Thankfully, my good friend Mr G came to the rescue again with picture of Matt with a webcam of Southampton!

Must have been the 4.30 forecast then eh! Ooops! 3.30 as well! :D The sun has gone to my head!

    Is that another new tie??

    Matt_and_a_sunny_Southampton

Will he be back today?? Well, I'm prepared this time! And I can totally feel a day off coming on this week! But I'm keeping a very close on eye on the weather! Not gonna take a day unpaid and then it be all cloudy! No no no!

    20th July

Well now! I've heard a rumour that our Matt was on Breakfast this morning!!!! I wouldn't know because it was Sunday and a.m. therefore I was asleep! Alex was on yesterday, therefore Alex should have been on today!!!! What's going on????? And obviously the presenter (who is he???) doesn't know either!!

He is on BBCi uk forecast at the moment too. so I havent missed him completely.  And the news is.....some summer might be on its way!! But not for the weekend of course!! Looks like some of the country might have some decent sunshine today but here in non-sunny Southampton, I have it on good authority that we have some 'convective infill'!!!! Which makes topping up the tan slightly difficult!! But tomorrow is looking pretty fab!! No use at all of course for those of us stuck in an office all day! If it really is going to stay that way for a bit then I can feel a day off coming on perhaps Wednesday, but maybe I shouldn't say it out loud, might tempt fate!

    16th/17th July

Matt was on nightshift *again* last night!! On radio this time though. So he was on Janice Longs show last night, listen here (on the old sound recorder you'll notice!!!):

    Matt on JL 170708

From socks to gyneocologists!!!! Never a dull moment with Matt and JL!!

I didn't hear him myself but I have it on good authority that he was also on Radio 4 this morning which is the norm I believe but don't really feel drawn to listening to radio 4 to be fair!!

I suspect he'll have disappeared now for a bit so eyes peeled for the next appearance!

    15th/16th July

No ranting from me today you'll be glad to hear! The last couple of days haven't been bad at all! Very warm! And Matt was on overnight shift last night with a cold front right across the map! We don't often see it looking like that. I think it looks more scary that way! Usually we have isobars and fronts on the atlantic map which seems far less personal! I like them on the UK one though, just hoping next time it'll be a warm front! And did you see that 'high' out in the atlantic??? Do we dare to hope something good might come out of that????? I won't hold my breath but just stay quietly confident!  Friday not sounding too clever though!
And just look at my local forecast for the next few days!! Windy Miller!!

    2008-07-16 1

And look at that cold front, right over my head!

    2008-07-16 2

Luckily it had sailed through by the time I went out this morning and was reasonably sunny, and just got sunnier as the morning progressed and I actually sat out in the sun to eat my lunch and people watch, it was graduation day today so pretty busy. At least they had a nice day for it, no mean feat this year!

An unexpected appearance of Matt this afternoon on News24 and BBCi. I had a sneaky peek at the forecasts! And if you missed him, how about this??

    13th July

I havent blogged yet! I have seen Matt though and suffice to say, as lovely as ever and wearing my favourite tie after Breakfast.

Matt was giving us a mainly dry day today for a change and quite warm in the sunshine. Well, I wouldn't know about that cos you'd almost have needed to be an olympic athelete to get downstairs and outside before the sun went back in again!! I thought the last day of my holidays might be a good one but it wasn't to be. If things don't pick up a bit at some point its going to feel like a really really really really long time without warm sunny settled weather, with last year being largely rubbish too!!! You've probably heard of the hundred years war.....well this may well be the hundred years without a summer! Where's the global warming when ya need it!! Still, I guess its not over yet! There's still hope. I just prefer my nice weather in the first 6 months rather than the second half.
Anyways, Matt was pretty in pink today and so watching the weather forecast was good even if looking out of the window wasn't so good.
I have absolutely no idea who either of the presenters on Breakfast were today, never seen either before in my life. And I guess Sonia doesn't get out of London (nor read papers, or watch TV) much if she doesn't know whether we have sandy beaches in this country!!!!!!! Bizarre!! Her words: 'Have we got any golden sandy beaches in the UK?'!!!!!!!
And Matt reckons if you are holidaying in this country at the moment you won't do too bad for the next couple of days! ......Hmmm, at least, you wont get wet!! He's certainly trying very hard to sell the weather today!! And I'm sure some places did get some good stuff, but I didn't ,so hence the rant!

     PDVD_002

And there's a lovely weatherman and a great tie to brighten up any day! Matt was also, of course, on BBCi doing his stuff.

    11th July

A surprise appearance on Breakfast this morning! I have to admit I did miss the first 4 forecasts but as its Charlie and Suzanna on I'm guessing I probably didn't miss anything too exciting in the way of banter! However on the first forecast I saw this morning Matt said it would be a 'dreek' morning in east Scotland!!! Dreek???? Well, after a quick google, of course 'dreek' doesn't exist, it seems its a scottish term, as I found it mentioned on someone's blog, and she lives in Scotland. An education for us southerners is Matts forecasts! I'm assuming it means wet and windy!

Before the next forecast there was pictures of the Royal International Air Tattoo at Fairford, not looking too good! Very dreek perhaps!!! :D

Matt even gave us a glimpse of the tempertures across Europe this morning, 37C in Cyprus!! That's ......warm!!! It's almost tempting to get on a plane!! Almost!!

    2008-07-12 1

As is the norm, Matt was on Vernon Kaye's show on Radio 1 at 10.20 being blamed for the bad summer weather! Poor Matt, always gets blamed! But this is what happens when you're a weathergod I guess. You have to take the good with the bad.

And LMAO, what is going on with the weather iplayer??? I don't know if it's just me but when I use Realplayer I get no picture with Matts voice and if I use Media player I get a forecast avec le picture with Sarah Wilmshurst!!!! How's that work then????

And same again today, only it was even more frustrating or me today because I knew he was on and I was in my room so if I had the channel I could have watched! Yeah, ok, I know what you're thinking! You're on holiday, you should get out more! Well, I had been out and it was raining so I came back! Besides i was reading a very good book! I just happened to notice it was about time for the weather!

    8th July

Matt was on News 24 this afternoon but as I was in a B&B with only channels 1 to 4 I didn't get to see him! But lucky I have such good friends that record him for me! Is that another new tie??

I don't have much to say today apart form the fact I have reason to believe Matt was on five Live today, but as I didn't hear him, thats about it really! As it was Five Live I doubt very much that I missed anything earth-shattering to be fair!!

    2nd July

And today things take a turn. Matt?s wearing the wet weather gear! In complete contrast to yesterday lots of cloud and some rain, and at the start of the programme all the covers are on!! Lots and lots
of cloud coming up from France.
Matt was predicting play at least from 4 o clock onwards and Sue was pleased with his positive attitude

Ok, I've been trying to upload the video for this day for 2 hours now, I'm going to have to come back to it!! To follow.....

    1st July

Yellow shirt day today. I'll tell you what, thank God for all different coloured shirts, helps me keep track of the days, or not, when I get confused!! Matt was waxing lyrical about the beautiful sizzling start to July today. He was saying that the heat of the day might set of a few thunderstorms later in the day but that he was going to keep an eye on them so Sue could enjoy the tennis. Temperatures reaching a wonderful 27/28C!

Well, he really hasn’t had to work too hard at Wimbledon has he! A bit of hazy high cloud around which will clear and staying dry with some spells of strong sunshine, temperatures lifting to around 23/24C (again, writing retrospectively I can only imagine what 23/24 C feels like! It seems it’s been a while!)  And he’s talking 28C for tomorrow!!! And then Sue Barker was saying ‘who needs a roof’ I have a feeling she might live to regret saying that!

(Lots of catching up for me to do after roaming round the south trying to, unsuccessfully, dodge the rain! Still, it was worth it.)

Matt’s still at sunny Wimbledon in blue/white striped shirt today, getting a little tongue-tied at one point talking about the sunglasses, T-shirts and suntan cream. A high today of 23C and Matt also has more sunshine up his sleeve for next week! Wow! He’s a sun God! Bless! (Writing here with hindsight I think he must have gone on strike!!)
