    27th August

A whole week of five Live?? Not the best shift in the world for us! Nothing to blog and we don't get to see him. Would have been better for me if this weeks and last weeks shifts had been round the other way, but hey.

    25th August

I understand that Matt was on Five Live today! How lovely for him on bank holiday Monday!

The crisis from earlier in the week is slowly passing, its only financial and not mine personally (been there and still in that!) but it still came as rather a shock and still things to sort. I will do my best to keep up with the blogging from now on though.

    22nd August

Poor Matt had Chris and Sonia ganging up on him on the first forecast today!! And there he was outside with his umbrella...again!
Sonia: The weather, very very important cos we don't get another bank holiday until Christmas now. And its been horrible (turns around to Matt) horrible over the last ?????? (could catch that). Yeah Matt its all your fault. And from Chris in the background:'Awful'.
Matt: Yeah, yeah, thank you Sonia. No pressure there at all. It is of course the bank holiday weekend for some of us'.
Matt did say he had a little bit of good news! As far as I can see that was just that 'mostly' it wasn't going to rain! Because down here this bank holiday weekend has been a dead loss. I got a few minutes sun yesterday, but during the afternoon it clouded over badly and was very very grey and depressing. Today (Monday) was little better, drizzle but a little less grey cloud.
Prior to the 6.45 forecast they spoke to a reporter in Belfast about all the flooding they had there and a reporter at a festival in Leeds in his wellies. You could really hear the rain on Matts umbrella very nicely during this forecast.
Lots of discussion about the weather and awful August today, lots of discussion. Unsurprisingly really!

Dark in the BP garden first thing these mornings! This is Matt talking his way out of this rain

    20th, 21st  August

Deepest apologies for not keeping up to date this week. My mum's op was fine and she's fine but another crisis appeared instead, so unfortunately the blogging has not got done.

I can't blog at the moment as I'm on my lunchbreak at work, but will try to get down to it at the weekend.

But I do have one thing to say about todays Breakfast. That naughty Chris Hollins calling Matt the most unpopular man at the BBC!!! I beg to differ! We know Matt is the weathergod but as much as we like to believe that he can control the weather, I think we know deep down that perhaps he maybe can't! But we still love him anyway! So a slap for Chris! I think Mr H just likes to live dangerously sometimes!

I'm going to amalgamate two days into one here as my lack of concentration with setting the dvd each day meant I  only got a few forecasts recorded anyway, not to mention the flipping Olympic's messing everything up entirely just when I didn't need it. But anyway.

On Wednesday they were talking about tea that's being grown in Cornwall. Charlie asked Matt if he had a cup of tea out in the Blue Peter. Poor Matt, no tea! He said: 'No we don't, I'm left out here on my own, its completely dry, at least it's not raining at the moment'. awwww....
Matt had his yellow shirt to try and conteract all the rain I think. Matt said summer has been conspicuous by it's absence. How very very true!!

On Thursday Matt was out in the BP garden with a 'summer' jumper!!! and umbella!!! Obviously another perfect summers day in London!! And as Matt said 'It wouldn't be an August day without a little bit of rain in the forecast'. More severe weather warnings for the north. Almost a daily occurance these days! By 7.50 the brolly had disappeared. Matt: 'yes, very good news, I've managed to dispose of the brolly in the past half an hour, but for some of you, you'll have to keep it very much close to hand today, particularly in northern parts of Scotland' . Another severe weather warning of course, goes without saying really!
Poor Matt had to do the entire forecast at 8.20 without any graphics!! And didn't he do well, a true pro.

    2008-08-25 1

Charlie: 'Matt, thank you very much. Who needs a map??  Y ou can go and have a nice sit down. Matt (pointing to head): It's all up here' . Charlie: 'You should have a nice sit down on the bench'. Matt: 'I should really shouldn't I'. Charlie: 'Go on sit yourself down' Matt: ' Do it through dance'. Suzanna: 'You've done your bit for Breakfast this morning Matt, thanks very much'.

    Brilliant!

    19th August

Hey, the blue wet weather jacket was back today! Not expecting rain surely! It's August, it's summer!! And there's a weather warning on the front page of the BBC weather website: Heavy rain for northern parts of the UK. Lmao, no change there then!! Nothern Ireland have been breaking their rainfall records!! Bet they are really pleased about that!!
Matt was trying to cheer us up this morning with mention of slightly better i.e. drier/brighter weather towards the end of the week. A good bank holiday???? Nah, surely not!!! That would be insane!!
Matt said there must have been plenty of 'bad hair days' lately with all the blustery weather around. Personally I have a bad hair day most days!
Doh! I recorded Breakfast on News24 so didn't get the last forecast!!! I give up with myself...really!!!

    18th August

I made a bit of a booboo this morning!! When Matt said earlies next week, I thought mornings on the news channel, didn't think of Breakfast!!! And since I put Breakfast on last Monday and it was all Olympics I kinda boycotted it, so I didn't have it on while I was getting ready for work  today and I didn't discover Matt was on there till I got to work, where I saw him do the 8.15 forecast online.    Something is better than nothing, and what a lovely start to a dreary Monday.  I see Matt hasn't found summer for us yet though!! We must have been really really really bad to deserve 2 rubbish summers in a row! I think we better all start being nicer in preparation for next summer!!
Isn't it about time we could set dvd recorders by phone???? For years and years I've wanted to be able to do that and it's one thing I still can't do.
So what I'm really trying to say is...... I don't have anything to blog except to say that seeing him on the news channel was a mixture of delight and distress this morning!! Was that new wet weather gear Matt had today? Not the usual blue jacket.

Still, at least I know now and tomorrow I'll be all prepared! In fact I'm already prepared!

However, I will just say that mum is in hospital from tomorrow so I can see some evening hospital visits coming on, but hopefully I'll be awake enough to be able to blog as well, we'll see!

    14th/15th August

Another nightshift for Matt and another appearance on JL that's not JL!! And next week we'll see Matt on earlies apparently, which means I'll have to be organised
Pete was quite convinced last night that he was going to be speaking to Kirsty at the weather centre ( wishful thinking on his part!!) but then found out it was Matt and blamed him for confusing him!!! Cheeky monkey Pete!!

    Matt on JL 150808

I would assume that Matt was probably on BBCi again last night too but I was out galavanting in London and it was 1am when I got home and then I had to make myself food, so after that it was listen to Matt on the radio and then sleep!! I'm not sure I've ever listened to JL live before, perhaps once.

    12th/13th August

Matt was on overnight shift again but not on News24. He was on the Janice Long show but Janice is on holiday at the moment and Pete Mitchell has been standing in. It was a good session, Pete had quite a long chat with Matt about weather and football.

    Matt on JL 140808

Matt was also on the BBCi world weather too.

    10th August

No Matt on Breakfast this weekend but he is on tonight! And pretty in pink again. Trying to cheer the weather up again perhaps?? Because its not looking good for the long foreseeable future!! I hear that bookings for holidays abroad were up 30% last week! I'm not surprised!!! Despite my hatred of airports nowadays I'm even looking myself!!! But I don't think I can get a lot of time of work for the forseeable future so no luck there! Need that winning lottery ticket for the break for freedom.

Matt was very autumnal last night! With autumnal isobars too apparently!! Winds up to 37 mph on Wednesday!!!!!! with rain as well!!!! Matt said on one forecast that we're probably due a dry spell about now, but we're not going to get it!!! Teasing!!

'and if you're of a sensitive disposition then turn your head away from the screen now, low pressure remains with us through Tuesday into Wednesday, far from a summery chart here, and you'll notice the weather fronts on the chart here,  indications of bands of rain. Not just rain we've got blustery winds towards the south bringing showers, and longer spells of rain, more persistant to the rain will be across central and northern parts of Scotland, and temperatures just 18-20 celcius..Sorry.'  And then he did that vanishing thing!! The 2am forecast was rather more upbeat though even though he had the same news to give!! Perhaps someone said he had to put a positive spin on it!!! Not gonna work really!

I have heard, don't know if its true or not, that the forecasters have been told when the weathers bad they're not allowed to say it'll be for more than a few days or people will get too depressed!!! Lmao

Spring, summer, autumn, winter, pretty soon we're gonna have to start a spot the difference competition!!! And we should all get one free weeks holiday somewhere sensible on the NHS!

Matt was doing the local forecasts on Breakfast this morning, thats if you could find your local news and weather!! Thankfully, I did have sensible news and weather at 7.30 and so saw Matt on there.

Glad I don't have to be up at 5 tomorrow morning!!!

OK, I've manged to open this page after several days of trying but it all looks a bit strange, so hopefully it'll work!!
Matt was on again today for a few forecasts, he went a bit dotty today! His tie did anyway! And he zoomed off to the Olympics!! Bit of 'beam me up Scotty' going on I reckon!

Good job one can't be done for blogging under the influence eh!! This is a bit of a late one and I know I'm going to regret it tomorrow but I havent much to say as I only saw Matt a couple of times this morning. I didn't realise he was going to be on today prior to leaving home this morning so no dvd was set! But worry not, I caught a couple of forecasts, enough to know Matt was wearing my favourite tie today! And lets face it this morning did need cheering up, it wasn't great. Very dull and overcast, alas along comes 10 o clock or half past and the sun appears! Turned out to be a pretty fab day. My boss had been worrying about whether to have her BBQ or not but it turned out well! Temperature didn't half drop after dark but at least it was dry and no wind either.
A little dicky bird tells me Matt was also on The Today Programme saying that Edinburgh had suffered some flooding recently! Who knew!! What sort of summer is this?? And this weekend is looking pretty rubbish again as well!! Not really very impressed to be fair!

    4th August

Well now!! What's going on here then?? Matt back on Breakfast this morning! I wasn't expecting that!! Lucky I have friends in high places!
Bill was asking about the weather for today at the start of the 6.45 forecast. Bill: 'Sian particularly wants a dry day today because she's going on the back of a motorbike. Not just any motorbike, James Toselands motorbike. Sian: 'At high speed...around Brands hatch' Matt: 'Good morning, I'm very jealous actually, err, it should be alright I think Sian, better chance of it staying dry compared to the weekend at least'
The same question was posed to Matt again for the 7.15 forecast. And the answer was surprisingly the same!!
One of the topics up for discussion today was......mens tights!!!! So before the 8.15 forecast Sian was reading out a message someone had sent in: 'I'm outing James in Brighton who says tights for men are great to wear in the winter months if you work outside'  Bill: 'Ooo which begs the question....Matt..... is he a man in tights?' Matt laughs: 'I don't have the legs for it Bill, but you wont need the tights today'.
At the end of the forecast Matt was saying about it staying dry today: 'Not too bad of your on the back of a bike (shrugs) I don't know, in Kent, Sian'. He just got a 'thank you very much Matt' from both Bill and Sian, not sure if the link went wrong there somewhere, Matt was very quickly gone!

After the tights question I think the only other question that remains is: Will Matt be back tomorrow or will it be Carol??? I'll be prepared though, just in case!

    3rd August

Matt was being pretty in pink today. And we needed some pretty cos its not looking too good outside! Well, not here anyway! I think summer has, hopefully temporarily, left us!

A slightly mixed up introduction to the weather at 7.45 this morning, Sonia: 'From rock concert to somebody who looks like, well he doesn't actually look anything like a rock star, but, Matt you've got the weather, hello'.
Matt: 'Hello there Sonia, I don't kow how to take that one you know'. At the end of the forecast Sonia says: 'More Boyzone than Meatloaf' Matt: 'Thank you very much, yeah. I think I prefer Meatloaf to be honest'. Sonis: 'Fair enough'. Noel: 'Take the Boyzone Matt they've got plenty of money, thank you very much indeed'

Sonia introduced the 8.15 forecast and I think she was trying to make up for what she said before because Matt got a lovely introduction this time! Sonia: 'Now the all important weather, lovely Matt has got the details for us, good morning'. Matt was laughing: 'Thank you very much Sonia, yes very good morning to you'.

Matt was on for a 3 more forecasts, back in his suit after Breakfast with pink tie to match the shirt, after which he was replaced by Tomasz who it seemed was not too impressed with the giggling girlies at the end of Your News. Hehe! A slightly sarcastic 'Hilarious, wasn't it' from Tomasz!

    2nd August

As I was suspecting/hoping Matt was on Breakfast this morning. Matt's shirt was matching the clouds in his pictures ie. black! Not really want we want on a weekend but after last weekends superb weather I guess we can't complain.....can we????
Chris Hollins on today, good! And the hour-glass figure was a topic today so Chris asked Matt: 'ok, time for Weather, time for the big question Matt, are you an hour-glass fan?' Matt laughs and replies diplomatically: 'ohhh I'll stay away from that arguement, I'll get myself into trouble if I'm not careful'
After the forecast the topic didn't quite drop, Chris:'Very diplomatic wasn't he? Sonia: 'I know, what with the hour-glass figure? Well, you didn't answer yours'  Chris: 'No, well I'm going to be diplomatic as well' (and a sneaky side-glance look towards Sonia.) Well, that was around the 7.15 forecast.
Then just before the 7.45 forecast there was an interview about it, so this subject wasn't going away! Chris: 'Lets go and see what the weathers going to be like from Matt who told us he didn't know whether he liked the hour-glass figure or not'. Matt laughs: 'I'm gonna sit on the fence again. I like women who are happy with themself, there you go' And at the end Chris said: 'I'm gonna get you a little later on Matt. Matt: 'I wouldn't be surprised' Sonia:'I know, he can't sit on the fence like that, twice now, what is he worried about? He said a woman who's happy with how she is..hmmm.'

Matt got a break from the 'hour-glass' banter on the 8.15 forecast, Chris was asking if the weather was a bit 'wishy-washy'!

9.20 forecast Chris with serious face gave Matt a choice: 'Come on Matt, Marilyn Monroe or Kate Moss?' Matt: 'Has to be Marilyn Monroe, ok, I'll stop sitting on the fence, now there you go'
